Anyone can set up a petition on the Parliament website. At 10,000 signatures, the government should provide a formal response. A petition that reaches 100,000 signatures within 6 months of being set up can trigger a formal debate in Parliament (hence the deadline of 12 May 2025). We want to see Parliament debate the damage that advertising and sponsorship by fossil fuel companies does to our planet. Remember to share the petition link on your social media channels after signing to help us secure this debate.

I think that preventing fossil fuel companies’ efforts to enhance their social capital and normalise their activities through advertising and sponsorship would proactively help address the climate crisis and mitigate future harm to human health.
